Michael Sarver Goes Home

Another one bites the dust.
Michael Sarver got sent home last night!!  Sad.  I liked the country sweetheart.  But the good news is Megan Joy is still around.  Oh, Joy.

Recap from Wednesday nights performances:
Image: Adam LambertAdam Lambert wears skinny jeans and his n*uts do fit.  Either that or someone kicked him in the crotch as a child.  Good Lord he can hit those high notes – I’m talking Mariah Carey high!  He shed the make-up and nail polish for American Idol’s tribute to Motown Records tonight, singing “Tracks of My Tears” for Smokey Robinson himself and Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown.  Adam showed us his tender, polished side this week, leaving Simon singing his praises and calling him the best performer of the night.  Work it out beau.  We love you long time.

Matt Giraud also kept it hot with a Marvin Gaye classic, proving he is one of the front-runners in the competition.  “Let’s Get it On” Matt.  Seriously.

And while the judges loved Anoop dawgs “Ooh Baby Baby,” it felt like he popped a xanax before going on stage.  His eyes were practically closed the whole song!  Get it together Anoop.  We don’t watch American Idol for two hours to see you sleep okay?  But props for pretty pipes.  Now let me see those retinas.

Ok enough about the boys!  Where the ladies at?

Allison Iraheta, the 16-year-old L.A. native, sang the sh*t out of “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”  I have no idea why she was in the bottom three last week but one thing’s for sure – she will definitely be back after tonight’s performance.  Kara loved her too.  Can’t say I was crazy about the outfit, but at least she stays true to her rock and roll style.  Work it out baby girl.

Lil Rounds was good but didn’t put much of her own spin on “Heat Wave.”  It’s undeniable that she has an amazing voice, but as Kara pointed out ever so eloquently, it’s not just about that in this stage of the competition.  America is looking for what she calls ‘artistry’ –  what new, fresh, interesting spin each singer puts on the song they choose.  She did more of a tribute to Motown, which isn’t a bad thing, but it didn’t set her apart, and now is definitely not the time to blend.

Poor, pretty Megan Joy was all over the place.  She struggled to hit her notes and I fear that when push comes to shove, she’ll be voted off the island that is American Idol.  Then again, maybe she’ll just push blindey Scott MacIntyre off the stage.  I’m bored of him already.  Is that mean?

The odds are not in our favor ladies, so for the females’ sake I hope a boy gets voted off this week!  Tune in tomorrow night to see Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone perform live.  Love it.
