The material mom, Madonna, was in Malawi this week with the hopes of adopting another child, a little girl, Mercy James. Things seemed to be going swimmingly. She’d gotten the young girl’s only living relative, an uncle, to sign the adoption forms and all Madonna needed was the signed consent of the courts. Too bad the courts noticed that one major requirement for adoption had not been met, living in Malawi for at least 18 months.
Due to the fact that the requirement was not met Madonna’s adoption request has been denied. Oddly enough, the same requirement was in effect when she adopted her son, David Banda. Madonna has the right to appeal the decision to Malawi’s Supreme Court, which may happen later today. What do you guys think, was Madonna rightfully denied or should the requirement been ignored since she’s probably going to give the little girl a better home than any orphanage ever could?
