Amped Up Athletics: Lakers Beat The Nuggets
After a tiring seven game victory over the Houston Rockets, the Lakers showed up for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Denver Nuggets refusing to be shut down. They walked away at the end of the night with a 105-103 win. The game was wildly exciting as the Lakers trailed the Nuggets slightly for most of it. Nonetheless, they pulled it together in the fourth quarter to ensure their last minute success. Kobe Bryant scored 40 points throughout the game, including 6 free throws in the last 30 seconds of the game fortifying the Lakers win, leaving the Nuggets trailing 1-0 in the series.
However, the exciting opener might not establish a running trend for the Lakers in subsequent games against the Nuggets, as the they’ve been consistently inconsistent throughout the finals, leaving critics and fans unsure of what to expect from them. Regardless, the thing to bank on is the fact that the Lakers have both the talent and the desire to not just win, but sweep the Nuggets to be crowned the champions of the Western Conference Finals. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Lakers react to the Game 1 win and the fact that the Nuggets will probably come back with a vengeance in Game 2. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. What about you? Do you think the Lakers will sweep the series or will this be a reenactment of what went on against the Rockets? Let us know in the comments.
