[lastfm]Shakira [/lastfm]spent a day with President Barack Obama earlier this week. She didn’t perform at the White House, so what was she doing there? Check it out on the flip side.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer, who is an ambassador for Unicef and runs her own charity The Barefoot Foundation, is campaigning to give better education to impoverished children. Shakira popped by the White House to have an unscheduled chat with President Obama.
[lastfm]Shakira[/lastfm], a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, who has tackled the issue of child poverty, posted the following after her time with the President:
It was such a privilege to sit down with the president in the Oval Office to discuss our shared commitment to education and early childhood development. We agreed that investing in our children is the smartest strategy governments can use to boost economic growth, fight poverty, and promote global security and peace.
If you can recall [lastfm]Shakira[/lastfm] met the President when she performed at his inauguration.
Isn’t Shakira such a great person to be so dedicated to the kids?
