I knew it was going to be hot, but man the sun has no mercy out here, and acquired a farmer’s tan within a half hour of being here, sexy. But the day has been busy and I managed to squeeze in a handful of performances in the first half of the day. Check out some underwhelming pictures from my point of view at Coachella (ella, ella…).
After sticking it to the man during P.O.S., I made my way out of the forgiving shaded tent to the scorching outdoor stage for indie/folk band [lastfm]Deer Tick[/lastfm]. They played some decent tunes, but I had to cut my time short to make my way over to [lastfm]Wale[/lastfm] next door.
Yes, that dude is wearing a sundress.
D’oh! Wale’s set ran over a half hour late and I couldn’t stay for his performance due to there were more acts to see! Instead I made my way back to the shade for one of my new favorite bands, Sleigh Bells. They’re a girl fronted duo using only one live guitar backed by some drum beats.
They’re set killed! So my eardrums hated me because of the overdrive of distorted bass and the singer’s banshee screams, but it was just the way I like my music. Loud.
The last band I saw before a much-needed break was another one of my favs, [lastfm]Yeasayer[/lastfm]. I never danced so much at a show before, but they’re music is so intoxifyingly catchy, you can’t help but groove!
Alright, the sun has set, my dehydration is settled, I’m going back out there. Later tonight: Them Crooked Vultures, Grizzly Bear, Vampire Weekend, and [lastfm]JAY-Z[/lastfm]! Check back later for more updates all weekend long at Coachella!
