In honor of Mother’s Day, Saturday Night Live will celebrate our mums for their annual Mother’s Day special with everyone’s favorite “Golden Girl”, Betty White as the host. On a completely opposite spectrum, Jay-Z is the musical guest, but the odd pairing may just turn out to be an epic episode.
After a national Facebook campaign to book Betty White as the host of SNL in response to her acclaimed Superbowl ad, supporters’ dreams have come true as she will host the upcoming Mother’s Day episode on May 8th.
She is a fitting host for the episode to honor all our mothers that will also feature appearances from former SNL members Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.
White has been asked to host the show years ago, but turned the offer down three times. So what made her change her mind this time? She had this to say:
It’s so New York, and I’m not New York at all. But my agent said he’d divorce me if I didn’t do it, and I love my agent. It’s lovely, and at my age it’s certainly unexpected. I’ve got so much energy, it’s ridiculous. I love working. My schedule is a feverish one, and I’m used to that (MTV).
I can’t wait to see what the sketches will be like with her hosting and of course seeing [lastfm]Jay-Z [/lastfm] perform on the SNL stage once again!
