Modeling himself after his inspiration, Michael Jackson, Usher wants to fill in the shoes the King of Pop left behind. He wants to rise as the next pop icon and establish himself as a music legend. Read on to find out which superstar rapper thinks Usher is well on his way to take MJ’s place.
The music world was left with a huge void after [lastfm]Michael Jackson[/lastfm]’s sudden death, and left without a pop icon to inspire the next generation of artists. Well, [lastfm]Usher[/lastfm] wants to step in those moon-walking shoes and become a music icon, saying to the Daily Star:
I’ve been doing this 18 years now and my icon is well on its way. Michael was doing it for 50 years and that’s something I’d like to grow towards. At the same time, I am one of a kind, a worldwide pop icon.
He isn’t just aspiring to an unreachable dream, [lastfm]Jay-Z[/lastfm] was impressed with his tribute to MJ at the Grammys and thinks the R&B singer has what it takes to become a modern-day MJ, telling Access Hollywood:
I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job. I think he’s one of the guys that’s in line to fill those huge shoes.
