So this was my first ever Dodgers Game, and what could be better than going on a night when AMP is throwing a huge party, Booker is throwing the first pitch AND it being…STAR WARS NIGHT?! Score. I only wish I knew this ahead of time so I could bust out my lightsaber.
Walking into Dodger Stadium, I couldn’t help notice a ton of fans dressed as characters from Star Wars or wearing Star Wars t-shirts and wondering “why is everyone brandishing lightsabers and look like they’re going to Comic Con?” Oh duh, it’s “The Empire Strikes Back” theme night to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the movie! As an added bonus, everyone walking into the stadium got a complementary Darth Vader poster saying “This Is My Town,” oh that is totally going up in my cube.
In the picture above, Storm Troopers escort Chewbacca out to the mound to kickoff the game, and later Lando himself, actor Billy Dee Williams announced to the crowd “It’s time for Dodgers Baseball!”

Throughout the game, players’ pictures popped up on the jumbo-tron with a Star Wars makeover as characters from the movie like Yoda, Boba Fett and Darth Vader. I’ve always wondered what Matt Kemp would look like as Boba Fett.
I don’t know which part I was more excited about last night, my first Dodgers game, or seeing Star Wars characters roaming around on the field.
- Was anyone else as excited as me that it was ‘Star Wars’ night at the game last night, or am I just a huge nerd?
