The best thing about having Kobe Bryant on your team is that he ALWAYS commands a double team late in the game. Game 5 in Los Angeles was no different.

After Phoenix Suns guard Jason Richardson hit a bank-shot 3 -pointer to tie the game at 100-100, the Lakers got the ball back with 3.5 seconds left. That meant that the Lakers would have enough time for one last shot.
Lamar Odom inbounded the ball to a double teamed Bryant who threw up an air-ball as he faded away out of bounds. Due to the double team, Ron Artest was able to sneak into the lane, catch the ball and lay in it off the glass as time expired for the 102-100 win.
“I thought Kobe got fouled on the shot, so I figured it was going to be short,” Artest said. “And it was a little short.”
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. He showed the league once again that he is STILL the BEST player in the NBA.
It’s worth mentioning that Suns coach Alvin Gentry threw up into a garbage can on the sideline during the game, but it wasn’t due to his teams poor play. Gentry claimed to have gotten food poisoning earlier in the day from a Los Angeles area restaurant that he chose not to name.
Game 6 is set for Saturday at 5:30 PM PST in Phoenix.
