You “better shape up” those vocal pipes and get ready for one of “those summer nights” that gives you “chills” of excitement because the Grease: Sing-Along is coming to the Hollywood Bowl on June 25th.
If you are as “hopelessly devoted” to Grease as we are, click on more for details!
In high school, you wanted to play the bad girl with a heart of gold, Rizzo. As luck would have it, you only got a chorus role. Now, Paramount has given you the opportunity to throw on a smirk, a black satin pencil skirt, some eyeliner, a Pink Ladies jacket, to sing your heart out with a bunch of fellow Grease fans. C’mon, you know there are “worse things you could do.”
The Sing-A-Long will be in the form of a subtitled version of the 1978 big screen movie. It will kick off with a special one-night engagement on June 25 at the Hollywood Bowl. For two weeks starting July 8, it will then play in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas, Seattle, Miami, San Diego and Austin.
If your inner Rizzo thinks that this all sounds like a Sandra Dee nerdfest, you might be right; there is supposedly Grease newbie/virgin bashing and dirty looks if you don’t know how to hand jive. But if you are a hardcore Grease geek, willing to don a poodle skirt or a pompadour, and know every single word to every single song, you will be a star.
Like Grease says, “Conventionality belongs to yesterday.” If “Grease is the way you are feeling,” than be assured that you will meet a lot of other people who feel the same way.
