In an emotional interview, Jennifer Hudson opened up for the first time since her family was murdered in 2008 by her sister’s estranged husband, William Balfour. She describe the experience as “surreal” saying, “It was like I was outside of myself” while holding back tears in the Behind The Music episode aired on Monday night.
She used her faith and spent time with close family to grieve the loss and adjust from the life changing experience. She recalled, “I prayed when I got up in the morning and prayed before I laid down at night. If I didn’t, I’d wake up depressed. The day didn’t go right.”
Since then, Jennifer has slowly made her way back into the spotlight and built a family of her own, marrying WWE star David Otunga and having her first child David Daniel Otunga Jr, both helping her move on from the tragedy.
