Controversy could easily be [lastfm]Lady Gaga’s [/lastfm]middle name- with her outrageous outfits, crazy antics, and dynamic music it’s almost impossible for her to avoid the tabloids.

And now she’s adding to the list of reasons to talk about the 24-year old “Alejandro” singer. Check out why Gaga’s in the news after the jump!

This time, it’s the Grammy’s that have got us in a fuss over Lady Gaga. After being left in the cold and without a nomination in the Best New Artist category of last year’s Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy has decided to change the rules.

A whole mess of changes are being made in several categories, but the one we care about most is the rule that allows new artists that were Grammy nominated for a previously released single, or who were featured on another artist’s album, to still be eligible for Best New Artist.

Lady Gaga was left out of the Best New Artist category in 2009 because she released and was Grammy nominated for her hit single, “Just Dance”, the year before.

But don’t be too hard on the Recording Academny, who makes all of the rules for the Grammys- How were they supposed to know that Lady Gaga would become one of the most influential (and awesome) artists to hit the airwaves a year later?

Now that the rules have been changed, the next big single could now lead to the Best New Artist.

Check out the video for the dance-party-starting song that kept her from a Best New Artist nomination in 2009:
