It took four weeks, 63 games and, for southern California fans at least, a lot of early mornings, but Spain walked away with the World Cup trophy for the first time in the country’s history!

It took 116 minutes for the scoreless deadlock to be broken by Andres Iniesta, who fired home a right-footed half volley to send Spaniards around the world into ecstasy.

The game may be remembered, however, for its rough play rather than beauty. The referee gave out 14 yellow cards over the course of the match, a World Cup final record, including (only?!) a yellow for an insane kung fu kick in the first half:
