Our favorite “California Gurl”, [lastfm]Katy Perry[/lastfm], is releasing her very own purr-fume. Find out what she smells like after the jump!
Perry’s fragrance will be called Purr (naturally). The name was inspired by the singer’s Catwoman stage costume.
“I’m a very lyrical-based person, and the whole ‘purr’ thing kept coming back — [the sound is in] perfume, perfect, even Perry if you say it a certain way. It just seemed logical,” said Katy. “The hardest part was keeping it under wraps for a year [during the development process]. I kept wanting to tell someone!”
Katy’s just the latest celeb to lend her name to a perfume. She’s following in the footsteps of [lastfm]Beyonce[/lastfm], [lastfm]Britney Spears[/lastfm], and [lastfm]Kim Kardashian[/lastfm].
“There are amazing fragrances backed by other celebrities, but what I’m bringing is not like any other,” she told Women’s Wear Daily. “It wasn’t just like, ‘I love gardenias.’ That would have been the easy route. I really wanted to develop a scent that was completely unlike anything I’d smelled before and not one that smelled like a knockoff of another scent. I’d never want to do anything ‘just because.'”
Purr by Katy Perry ($36-$65) contains notes of peach nectar, forbidden apple, and green bamboo. It goes on sale November exclusively at Nordstrom in a cat-shaped bottle with jeweled eyes.
