Perhaps inspired by the Old Spice man‘s lead, Kanye West set out to win the internet this week. He’s doing well so far, with an A Cappella performance at Facebook HQ and his own Twitter account, which has amassed, at last count, 216,986 followers in less than 24 hours. His ‘unique’ voice on the site even inspired its own trending hashtag with #PredictingKanyeTweets
Last.fm Trends decided to check out if Kanye’s on top of your playlists too. Find out after the jump…
On Last.fm every artist’s page has a list of acts that their fans have been playing too. Alongiside Kanye you’ve been scrobbling Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi and Drake. We thought we’d see exactly who’s on top, both with listeners and scrobbles.
When it comes to listeners Kanye comfortably tops the chart. While Drake, Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi all bubble around 7 – 800,000 listeners Kanye rides high with a reach of 1,886,241, more than double. Jay-Z isn’t too far behind though, nothing a new record wouldn’t fix…
But now take a look at the scrobbles
Remember – a scrobble is how you tell Last.fm what songs you’re playing. One scrobble = one play of any track. Clear to see that Kanye leaves most of the pack in the dust. While the line up’s the same the number’s are staggering: Jay-Z boasts 35,862,889 scrobbles, but then Kanye tops that by another 25 million and change. Listeners really can’t get enough of him.
