Our girl [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] always gets slack for stealing Madame [lastfm]Madonna[/lastfm]’s style; critics tend to forget that they have a lot of things in common already. Both are Italian-American, both are products of the New York dance and cabaret scene, and both are pop music innovators. And it’s inevitable that if you have a hero ([lastfm]Madonna[/lastfm] for [lastfm]Gaga[/lastfm]) that you are going to soak up some of her swagger.
Deviating from her current “nipple-tape-and-fishnets-full-frontal-exposure” self that we saw at Lollapalooza, [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] looks classy and understated in her iD editorial even if she is basically decked out in the [lastfm]Madonna[/lastfm]’s “Vogue” circa 1990 garb.
We’ve noticed that at least in magazine pictorial [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] is trying to tone it down a little bit, which is a welcome break from her over-the-top and admittedly pretentious affectations.
Not saying that we want the “girl-on-the-next-planet” to stop being crazy. Nope. Keep the crazy coming!
