Last week we brought you the exclusive ability to hear the clean version of Cee-Lo Green’s new hit “F**k You.” After hearing that people generally prefer the unclean version, Cee-Lo is here to prove that his new song is more than just a barrage of bad words aimed at an ex.
[pullquote quote="...I still believe that (the song) can be classified as art because it's an original piece and the edge and alternative is there, and the integrity is intact," credit="Cee-Lo Green on his new single"]
In what some people are cringing over, Cee-Lo sees as art, based on the fact that it’s never been done before, edgy and awesome. Cee-Lo explains:
What I’ve tried to accomplish, like, is making art products … so I still believe that (the song) can be classified as art because it’s an original piece and the edge and alternative is there, and the integrity is intact.
Is the song really art though? Cee-Lo manages to say the f-word 16 times in a mere 3 1/2 minutes. If we were in class, we’d probably have been expelled at the end of the first minute. Perhaps, it’s just sensationalism getting the song major play on the web.
Regardless, Cee-Lo doesn’t take his success for granted saying that he considers the rave reviews of his new song to be “a miracle of some sort.” We’re not sure it’s a miracle at all, but just raw talent.
Do you agree with Cee-Lo? Check out the clean version of his song called “Forget You” and tell us if you think that the art behind the song is lost when you take out all the racy language!
