Glee Cast Getting Stiffed By Sony!
How much would you expect to make off of singing on one of the top selling albums of the year? An album that landed at number one on the Billboard Top 200 in June?
How about $400?
That’s how much [lastfm]Cory Monteith[/lastfm], who plays Finn on “Glee,” says he’s received from Sony Music for Glee: The Music, Journey To Regionals thus far.
“[I] got 400 bucks from it going number one,” he said, “but you know what, that’s okay, because if I’m patient, and this thing does really well, maybe I’ll see another 400 bucks.”
[lastfm]Mark Salling[/lastfm], who plays Puck, says he hasn’t received a dime, either. And now Sony is losing each of the actors/singers individually, as they start to sign solo deals. [lastfm]Matthew Morrison[/lastfm] is off to Mercury Records, while Salling is heading to independent Pipe Dream Records.
The only “Glee” cast member with Sony on an individual basis is [lastfm]Lea Michele[/lastfm] – and she’s the one leading the complaining about royalties, according to sources.
They better pay the “Glee” cast, though, because the backups aren’t quite as good…
