We told you about [lastfm]Katy Perry[/lastfm]’s successful stint as a guest judge on the UK version of “The X Factor.” It went so well that ITV2, a British television network, wants to give her a show. But we Americans aren’t going to let Katy go without a fight! And in television terms, “fight” means “big payday” for the California Gurl.
Simon Cowell, the ex-American Idol judge and showrunner for the American version of “The X Factor,” which will start next fall, has his sights set on Perry, reportedly for an astounding $340,000 per episode!
“Simon wants to get the judging names signed, sealed and announced within six weeks,” a source said. “He wants at least one massive American star, someone who is known globally, plus one Brit and at least one authoritative male.”
If she’s on the show, does that mean we won’t get abominations like this?
[lastfm]Marc Anthony[/lastfm], [lastfm]Jennifer Lopez[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Nick Cannon[/lastfm] are also under consideration.
What do you think – would adding Katy to “The X Factor” make you want to watch? Or would you have watched anyway, just to see what Simon Cowell could come up with that doesn’t involve spineless hosts?
