Ugh. Travis, Travie, whatever your name is: stop sampling our favorite songs! “We’ll Be Alright” is [lastfm]Travie McCoy[/lastfm]’s new song and video; let’s just say it doesn’t make us feel alright. McCoy (or his team of songwriters) sampled one of the most catchy choruses’ in Brit Pop history: [lastfm]Supergrass[/lastfm]’ chorus from 1995’s “Alright.”

Sampling is nothing new in the industry but they didn’t even try to change the name of the song that much and the song is basically Supergrass plus some grunts and mediocre rapping. Check it out and judge for yourself!

Here’s Travie McCoy’s video.

And here’s Supergrass’ “Alright” which got it’s popularity from the 1995 film Clueless.

Another thing: if you are going to basically rip-off another artist, you should probably have more than tatted alternative hotties dancing around as the majority of your video. Because, again…that’s so original.

I can’t even believe that this is considered debateable. It it clearly the exact same chorus. If that isn’t apparent considering that the lyrics are almost identical and the tune is, I don’t know what to say.
