Ex-Danity Kane Member Dawn Richard Covers Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”
Remember that MTV band that [lastfm]P.Diddy[/lastfm], Puff Daddy, Diddy, whatever put together? [lastfm]Danity Kane[/lastfm]? They had some inter-personal drama, were ruled by the ultra-controlling fist of their Daddy, warmed the hearts of Americans everywhere, put out a couple of decent tracks, and dissolved into the pop glitter.
Now Ex-Danity Kane member and current[lastfm] Dirty Money[/lastfm] member, [lastfm]Dawn Richard[/lastfm] is putting out her own album that includes a cover of [lastfm]Soundgarden’s[/lastfm] “Black Hole Sun.” While her voice is really good for pop, she absolutely murders this song. And not the good kind of murder.
Here is the original song. Notice the guttural guitar sounds and Chris Cornell’s powerful vocals.
And then…Dawn basically ruins this song for our ears forever. Why does she need to add 5,000 grace notes to everything? Ugh.
Just because you can make your voice sound like a dying bird doesn’t mean you sound “unique,” “interesting,” or heaven forbid…”good.”
We thought we should let you know, that our brains are forever damaged.
So how ya gonna fix it?
