The Social Network, the film about the founder of Facebook, is good. Really good. Sure, we knew it was going to be good; it was written by the West Wing guy and directed by the Fight Club guy. But how good? Rotten Tomatoes right now has the film at 100 percent fresh, meaning every reviewer likes it.
Oscar talk is already buzzing. And getting his share of the plaudits is pop superstar [lastfm]Justin Timberlake[/lastfm].
Entertainment industry standard Variety said of the ex-boy bander, “Timberlake makes Sean [Parker] every inch the brazen opportunist, but his ne’er-do-well grin is positively infectious.” That matches the early praise the film has received from nearly all corners.
But we here at AMP…well, we’re nervous.
In 2006, Timberlake released FutureSex/LoveSounds, which include mega-smashes “SexyBack” and “My Love.” Since that album hit stores, he’s appeared in seven films, including The Social Network … and not released another album. In fact, there aren’t even rumors about him returning to the studio anytime soon.
Meanwhile, he’s got two more films slated for 2011 release (including Friends With Benefits, opposite Mila Kunis).
Has Justin gone Hollywood? Will we ever get to see this again?
Or, at least, this?
