It may or may not have taken a 30,000-strong Internet petition. It may or may not have taken [lastfm]Lupe Fiasco[/lastfm] airing his label’s dirty laundry to anyone who would listen.
But as of today, Fiasco’s shelved Lasers record will finally see the light of big box retail outlets everywhere, dropping on March 8, 2011.
The announcement first came from the Atlantic Records Twitter account, followed by a post from Lupe himself, saying simply, “Victory!” A press release followed later, with the somewhat-odd headline, “1st and 15th/Atlatic Records Proudly Announces Album Release Date For … [lastfm]Lupe Fiasco[/lastfm],” with emphasis added by AMP, because if you have to tell people that you’re proud to release a previously-shelved album, are you really that proud?
There’s no word yet as to whether this will affect next Friday’s planned protest by the rapper’s fans, called “FiascoFriday,” outside of Atlantic’s offices.
With all the drama over, let’s go back to the music, yeah?
How excited are you for a new [lastfm]Lupe Fiasco[/lastfm] album?
