Hush child, just listen/don’t it sound just like the good old days?
[lastfm]Cee-lo Green[/lastfm]‘s new single “Old Fashioned” has the same soulful, Motown sound as his summer hit, “F**K You,” but it’s totally different. It sounds like, well, the good old days.
Instead of making you want to joyously go-go dance on a street corner proclaiming your future vindication from a horrible relationship, “Old Fashioned” has that old-school feel that makes you want to make out with your significant other in the backseat of a Cadillac.
We are obsessed with Green’s retro-pop sound and can’t wait for his album The Lady Killer to drop on November 7th. To the less discerning ear that is more into modern music, this song may sound too old-folksy. That’s the point. “Old Fashioned” is a tribute to vintage Motown love songs and to the kind of profound love that lasts forever.
Just like an old love song.
As Green says himself in the song:
This love is classic/ it’s right on top/ and it’s timeless/ and it will be right here for years.
Just like Cee-lo Green.
