Last night at Kanye’s premiere he didn’t come across as an artist craving attention… I saw a vulnerable, scared, lonely, beautiful spirit. I saw a man who, despite losing EVERYTHING, still weathered the storm and stood before us – unselfishly pouring vision – encouragement – and creative images into our greedy never satisfied souls. In a matter of months, Kanye lost his Mother/bestfriend, two Grandmothers, and a Grandfather. Can you imagine? Everyone has a breaking point and unfortunately the world was able to see Kanye’s on flat screen TV’s, broadcasted across the world. In a matter of moments Kanye also lost the respect of his fans, the support of the industry, and the way of life as he knew it. You may not know this but Kanye went from performing in sold out stadiums to being a coffee grabbing intern for a clothing store in a different country. That’s experiencing humility first hand.Dreamers have visions that the boxed world can’t comprehend. Dreamers are mood shifters and life changers. I remember when I told my parents I wanted to be in radio. My Dad’s exact words were, “There are a million people out there that want the same thing and you won’t make it in that field.” My Dad is the most loving man I know – BUT he feared my dream was too big and he didn’t want me to get hurt.Dreamers, we have to take a path never traveled…Kanye’s “Runaway” was a film about his life. In the most creative way possible, Kanye showed – no matter how beautiful your gift / vision is… if it’s “different,” the world won’t stand by you. Don’t decide what you love by the opinions of others. Open your eyes, see what’s right in front of you… break the cycle of thinking like everyone else… and RUNAWAY!!I’m inspired – Thank you Kanye!!
