With the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Jackson[/lastfm] tour film/documentary “This Is It” cleaning up at the box office in 2009, grossign more than $250 million in box office, it’s not a surprise that Hollywood would want to try to find a way to get more out of MJ fans. One studio is looking to do exactly that by making a full-length movie based on Jackson’s extended video for “Thriller.”
GK Films, with Kenny Ortega (director of “This Is It”) attached to direct and “The Hangover” scribe Jeremy Garelick on board to pen the screenplay, would like to adapt the “Thriller” video into a feature film.
For the refresher course:
It’s a great video, of course. Groundbreaking, even … it’s doubtful [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kanye West[/lastfm] would have ever thought to make a 35-minute video for “Runaway” without something like “Thriller.”
But 90 minutes? Really?
Early ideas are for the script to explore the back story of Vincent Price‘s character and the “song’s folklore.”
We love you, Hollywood (…sometimes…), but try to not ruin MJ for us, mkay? Or, at least, cast these guys:
