Lil Wayne Matches Tupac Mark

Lil Wayne Scores Number One Album in Jail

I Am Not A Human Being, the latest album from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil Wayne[/lastfm], went to number one on the Billboard Top 200 chart, a feat shared by a select group of albums.

But [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil Wayne[/lastfm]’s effort is the first in 15 years, since [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tupac Shakur[/lastfm]’s Me Against The World, to achieve a particular mark.

When Shakur’s 1995 effort went to the top of the charts, he was in jail. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil Wayne[/lastfm]’s celebration for his number one album had to be similarly muted, as he continues to seve a term for criminal possession of a weapon. He’s expected to be released in November.

Tupac’s Me Against The World eventually went on to sell 1.5 million copies. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] has sold 324,000 units of I Am Not A Human Being as of October 24th.

If you were in prison, how would you celebrate having a number one album?
