The original track appeared on Eminem’s summer release Recovery and centered around relationship trauma and abuse, mostly from the view point of Eminem himself. Part two of the track is said to focus on Rihanna’s perspective and will be featured on her upcoming album Loud, released on November 16th.
The track, which was released on July 21st, was a Billboard Hot 100 number one and this is reflected on its Last.fm scrobble count, with the song hitting 1,621,296 scrobbles so far.
Aside from the slight dip after its release, the track grew in listeners every week all the way up until September 19th, where it hit its peak of 22,986 listeners.
This was most likely due to the performance of the track that week on the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
Since then the track has been gradually losing listeners, perhaps paving the way for the sequel to move in and take the crown, which looks likely with the release of Rihanna’s new record.
What will Rihanna have to say in the sequel to “Love The Way You Lie”? Make sure you’re scrobbling the track when it’s released. Head to Last.fm for more information.
