beatles itunes [Poll] Carson Daly: The Beatles Now Available on iTunes

It’s finally official! Apple left a mysterious message on their website yesterday and we now know what all the hoopla was about.  We can FINALLY buy music from [lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm] on iTunes!

Yesterday, the technology giant touted that today would be a day “you’ll never forget.”  Up until now, [lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm] have not allowed their music to be digitally downloaded from any website. Drummer [lastfm]Ringo Starr[/lastfm] joked in the official statement:

I am particularly glad to no longer be asked when the Beatles are coming to iTunes.

Individual songs will cost $1.29 a piece and you can buy the entire box set of [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm] albums for $149.  [lastfm]Paul McCartney[/lastfm] voiced his support for iTunes this morning:

We’re really excited to bring the Beatles’ music to iTunes. It’s fantastic to see the songs we originally released on vinyl receive as much love in the digital world as they did the first time around

Is it just me, or is this announcement a little underwhelming? I don’t think the previous [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm] ban has stopped anybody from putting the music on their iPods by burning it from CDs.  What do you think? Vote in our poll!
