[AMP Exclusive Film Review] Burlesque Will Blow Your Socks Off During The Musical Numbers
Last Night I joined several dozen lucky AMP listeners at the Grove in Los Angeles for an advanced screening of Burlesque, starring [lastfm]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Cher[/lastfm].
Lights, camera (corsets, dancing, glitter), and action! Everyone in attendance won tickets for being loyal AMP Radio listeners (and quick with the speed dial).
If you couldn’t make it, you’re in for a real treat once the movie officially opens on November 24th.
The movie was all about Aguilera’s soulful voice, burlesque (duh), and amazing choreographed dance numbers. Each girl in the chorus line had their time to shine, but oftentimes it was [lastfm]Cher[/lastfm]’s hilarious one-liners that saved certain scenes from being too over the top.
Admittedly, Aguilera will leave you breathless with her dancing abilities and amazing voice, but the storyline was cliché and hard to sit through once the glitz and glamor of a scene ended.
In the film, Aguilera’s singing abilities aren’t immediately noticed by [lastfm]Cher[/lastfm], the burlesque club owner, but once her talent is discovered the movie takes one predictable turn after another. That being said, I promise that the musical numbers are well worth the price of admission.
As mentioned, you can catch Aguilera’s film debut the day before Thanksgiving and the amazing soundtrack will hit the shelves a bit earlier on November 22nd.
So, what say you, AMP listeners: will you be checking out Burlesque this holiday weekend? For those of you who were able to catch the early screening, what’d you think?
