[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Diddy[/lastfm] & [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Dirty Money[/lastfm]‘s 2010 anthem against the foibles of material greed versus spiritual wealth, “Coming Home,” is like a modern sequel of Diddy’s (then Puff Daddy) verses on [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Notorious B.I.G’[/lastfm]s “Mo Money, Mo Problems.”
Diddy has definitely “come up” since then, dealt with the emotional travails of being obscenely wealthy and seems to have had a spiritual epiphany that goes something to the tune “the more money we come across, the more problems we see.”
Diddy’s video for “Coming Home” shows him blinged out and burnt out–on money.
Diddy is walking across a parched desert in all-black leather (not that practical, Didz), looking like an urban biblical prophet, with material goods destroyed around him, some dirty models looking confused looking at some dirty, burned money. The theme is obviously dirty deeds done…not that dirty cheap. And ”money can’t make up for it/or conceal it.”
We like how everything has come full circle since Diddy’s catapult to fame after “Mo Money, Mo Problems.” A well-oiled artistic machine, rife with a publicist’s touch? Probably. Still poignant? Definitely.
