AMP Artist’s Top Ten Songs of 2010 About: Fire, Lights, Explosions, And…Rockets?
Blame it on our overheated intellect or our feverish imaginations, but while we blasted some of our favorite AMP artist’s 2010 albums, we noticed a very explosive theme i.e. tons of songs about fire, lights, and other things that go boom in the sky.
We compiled a list consisting our Top Ten “hot” songs of the combustible or glowing genre. And if you don’t like our list, go ahead and flame us in the comments!
10) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Far East Movement[/lastfm]-“Rocketeer”
Ok, so this song isn’t really about explosives or burning stuff, but rockets (and hence rocketeers) use fire to get into the sky. Plus, it’s a love song where he says “got a jetpack with your name on it.” What is more romantic than flying around with nothing but jets of fire propelling you deep into the atmosphere?
9) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm]-“Blazin'”
Barbie girl, Nicki Minaj, wants the world to know that she is straight fire; she “flys high,” she “blazin'” even though she hasn’t even begun to explode onto the scene:
“I aint even detonate the bombs in the arsenal /Before the storm comes the calm/Hope you can take the heat like LeBron”
8) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Black Eyed Peas[/lastfm]-“Light Up The Night”
Will.I.Am has a “rock it” in his “pocket,” but he’s definitely happy to see you. Why? Because without the party “poppin'” him and his Peas couldn’t “light up the night.” Check these fire-centric lyrics:
“Hot beats pumpin’ out the box /yeah turn it up /Hot fire comin’ out my torch /I’ma burn it up”
7) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kanye West[/lastfm]-“All Of The Lights”
Basically, every person in the music industry is up on this Kanye West joint and the song is as brilliant (and unique) as a gas fire. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna [/lastfm]sings the chorus, asking that the world see how hot this jam is.
“Turn up the lights in here, baby/Extra bright, I want y’all to see this/Turn up the lights in here, baby/You know what I need, want you to see everything/Want you to see all of the lights”
Trust us, Rihanna baby. We can feel the heat.
6) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Taylor Swift[/lastfm]-“Sparks Fly”
Granted, this song is totally different from every other song on this list. It’s less fiery, but you have to keep in mind it’s called “Sparks Fly.” Swift is not ready to bring the full-on fire. All her and her crush are doing are “smiling” at each other: “‘Cause I see sparks fly/whenever you smile.”
Just wait until the finally make-out. Ka-Boom.
5) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil Wayne[/lastfm]-“On Fire”
4)[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Eminem[/lastfm]-“On Fire”
Lil Wayne brings scorching lyrics like “she hot as hell lets call her helen/fireman to her rescue like 9-11/f**king right I make her hot/she got the Devil in her/I do whatever with her/hells angel/I pluck her feathers.”
Eminem spits crazy verse like “You on fire/Thats how ya know your on a roll/Cause when you hot its like you’re burnin up everyone elses cold/You’re on fire/Man im so hot my motherf**kin fire trucks on fire homie.”
Who wins the battle of the fire gods? Who gets the fist of fire K.O.?
3) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bruno Mars[/lastfm]-“Grenade”
The obvious next step up is a “Grenade.” As a weapon, it’s pretty brutal; it’s out of control and it obliterates everything in its small vicinity. If you really to tear someone to metaphorical pieces you hit them with a grenade, or if you want to tear Bruno Mars’ heart to pieces, you sadistically require him to commit romantic jihad.
2) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Taio Cruz[/lastfm]-“Dynamite”
The next step up from a grenade, in terms of sheer explosive power, would have to be dynamite. Thankfully with lyrics like “‘Cause we gon’ rock this club/We gon’ go all night/We gon’ light it up/Like it’s dynamite,” this song is less about, well, death and more about fun! Yay fun!
1) [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm]-“Firework”
The prize for “#1 Song About Lights, Fire, or Explosions” goes to Katy Perry’s “Firework.” What’s more impressive and powerful than human acceptance and perseverance?
If lyrics like, “Do you know that there’s still a chance for you/Cause there’s a spark in you/You just gotta ignite the light/And let it shine/Just own the night/Like the Fourth of July,” don’t make you feel “brighter than the moon” than you must be a cold-hearted snake–and we’ll make a different list for the likes of you tomorrow!
