Rapper [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Gucci Mane[/lastfm], whose guest appearances on tracks from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lil Wayne[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Wale[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Trey Songz[/lastfm] have taken him from underground emcee to internationally known, has been committed to a mental institution, stemming from a court appearance where he entered a “Special Plea of Mental Incompetency.”
Mane (real name Radric Davis), 30, was in court for a probation revocation hearing, after he was busted at fellow emcee [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Waka Flocka Flame[/lastfm]‘s house along with weapons and marijuana last fall.
Because of the plea, the judge committed Mane to a mental institution in order to evaluate his condition. If he is deemed fit to stand trial, he will return to court and likely be sent back to jail for violating probation.
The probation stems from a 2005 arrest for assault. Three years later, Mane headed back to jail after only completing 25 of his 300 court-mandated hours of community service.
Why does it seem some emcees can stay clean?
