We told you last fall about [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] performing with the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Plastic Ono Band[/lastfm] to commemorate what would have been [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Lennon[/lastfm]’s 70th birthday. While that might have sounded like a weird collaboration, it seemed perfectly natural to Ono … and she said it would have been alright by Lennon, too!
“She’s an artist, she’s fearless and she pushes every limit, which we both always adored. She has played on John’s white piano and I think that’s wonderful,” Ono said.
Lennon was a huge inspiration for so many artists today – his song “Imagine” is one of the most oft-covered tracks in music history – so getting posthumous props through [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Yoko Ono[/lastfm], Lennon’s widow, is a pretty big compliment.
Here’s Gaga taking on “Imagine” last year (music kicks in at 3:20):
The Mother Monster seemed to get a lot of props from idols last fall, as well, with both Madonna and Elton John professing to be fans of the pop superstar. Who will be next to jump on the Gaga bandwagon before her next album?
