Okay, maybe CLASSICAL is the more appropriate word.
Even though [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kanye West[/lastfm] released his latest album months ago, you’re still very likely to hear someone blasting My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy when you’re walking down the halls of AMP Radio. I guess we’re just a little Kanye-obsessive in these parts.
Then we heard that an orchestra recently covered his hit song, “All of the Lights,” so we had to check it out to see if it was insanely awesome or a trainwreck.
The Portland Cello Project, who jokingly call themselves PCP, is an orchestra that aims to bring classical music to the mainstream masses by performing hip hop and pop music. The symphony performs 2-3 hour concerts, often writing completely new arrangements for every performance.
