Tonight-despite the chill weather and rain clouds-the stars were out in Hollywood. Our fair city was literally abuzz with talent and beauty being celebrated at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards Ceremony and the inevitable glamorous after-parties. One such “afterparty” was the post-Oscar celebration on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
This celebration included a performance of “Bright Lights, Bigger City” by the adorably pudgy Pharaoh of Soul Pop, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cee-Lo Green[/lastfm], and his backing band of beautiful musical mamas.
In a blessed twist of fate, we were at Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week for another show that we never actually got to see. When we were called to the small stage, we were actually surprised by the presence of one of our favorite musicians and songwriters of all time–Cee-Lo Green.
Green was all smiles and dapper in black sunglasses. For a photograph, JKL staff members instructed him to precariously stand on a ladder by a chandelier and he did so with a grin and deafening applause while subsequently fixing a loose lightbulb on a chandelier.
How many Cee-Lo Green’s does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Apparently, only one, as long as he has an attentive audience cheering him on.
Cee-lo Green-“Bright Lights, Bigger City”
Performing the second single ”Bright Lights, Bigger City” off of his album The Lady Killer (and one of our sleeper hit favorites), Green is just as amazing live as he is recorded, which is no small feat for most artists that are considered “pop” in any way. Filled with mixed emotions, we were sad that we missed the other musical artist we came to see, but honestly–way more excited to see Cee-Lo Green rock the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage.
