[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm]’s refusal to continue her partnership with Target seems to be the center of attention this week.
The avant-garde pop artist dropped a bomb on Target when she terminated the deal after learning about the company’s donation to an anti-gay candidate.
[pullquote quote=”Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past” credit=”Lady Gaga on terminating her contract with Target”]
The “Born This Way” song bird is a huge advocate for the LGBT community so it should have come as no surprise to Target that the partnership would encounter a conflict of interest, but alas they were shocked with the news.
Here’s what the music world’s favorite Lady had to say:
Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past…our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those [anti-gay]groups.
Well said Lady Gaga! And here’s Target with the rebuttle:
We were very surprised and disappointed by the statements made by Lady Gaga’s organization related to her partnership with Target. Target remains committed to the LGBT community as demonstrated by our contributions to various LGBT organizations, our recently established Policy Committee to review our political giving and our respectful, inclusive workplace environment.
Despite the defensive words, we’re happy to report that the partners turned opponents reached a resolution.
It was reported that Lady Gaga and Target “came to a mutual decision to end their overall exclusive partnership a few weeks ago.”
So what would have the Target and Lady Gaga collaboration produced if the two sides saw eye to eye you may ask?
An exclusive rendition of her much anticipated album “Born This Way” is what would have been found on the shelves of Target had the partnership worked out.
Looks like fans will have to settle for the average version of the CD, but let’s be real, when it comes to Gaga, average does not exist.
Now that you’ve heard both sides of the story, tell us what you think in the comments!!
