But we took some time to think it over and decided that the “S&M” songstress is probably making the right choice.
So many singers before her have tried their hand at acting and bombed big time. We’re not naming any names… ([lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Britney Spears[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mariah Carey[/lastfm])!
And vice-versa, many major actors and athletes have given singing a try and failed miserably too.
Check out our picks!
1. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kim Kardashian[/lastfm] — “Jam (Turn It Up)”
Kim is one of the newest members of this bunch, releasing her debut single earlier this month.
We hate to break it to her, but we just can’t handle this lackluster tune.
It has a promising beat, but Kim’s weak voice combined with an auto-tune happy engineer makes this the lamest club banger we’ve heard in quite awhile.
Please, let’s turn this one down.
2. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Paris Hilton[/lastfm] — “Stars Are Blind”
Of course Kim’s former BFF had to make this list!
I tried to block this one out of my memory, but it JUST. WON’T. GO. AWAY.
Even worse than the actual song? This music video that will forever be burned into your brain!Vodpod videos no longer available.
3. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Hasselhoff[/lastfm] — “Jump In My Car”
I would never want to “hassle the Hoff,” but REALLY?
Apparently, he’s kind of a big deal in Germany…but we just don’t get it.
4. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Countess LuAnn de Lesseps[/lastfm] – “Money Can’t Buy You Class”
Money can’t buy you class, but it CAN buy tons of auto-tuning and a FABULOUS wig!
This Real Housewife of New York City apparently has such a gifted voice that she doesn’t have to actually sing, rather, she speaks in monotone rhythm.
5. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kim Zolciak[/lastfm] — “Tardy for the Party”
Speaking of fabulous wigs, we have yet another Bravo housewife who made the list!
In her “hit” single, Real Housewives of Atlanta star [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kim Zolciak[/lastfm] gives us some sage advice…never be late when there’s a jammin’ shindig going down.
Thank goodness she’s here to remind us of that.
6. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ron Artest[/lastfm] — “Peanut Butta”
This Lakers player definitely has the right moves on the basketball court, but not so much in the recording studio.
In this head-scratcher of a song, Artest teams up with AMP Radio artist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ray J[/lastfm] to rap about one of his greatest inspirations…Peanut Butta?
WARNING: Song contains explicit lyrics not appropriate for younger listeners.
7. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mr. T[/lastfm] — “Treat Your Mother Right”
It’s a nice message, but I pity the fool who actually enjoys this song.
Honorable mention goes out to the tiniest and tightest shorts EVER.
8. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gwyneth Paltrow[/lastfm] — “Country Strong”
Sure, she sounds lovely when you stick in some auto-tune and put a little post-production on the track, but did you hear that hot mess at this year’s Oscars Awards?
Gwyneth’s the furthest thing from country, so that doesn’t help her case. And what was up with that white microphone?
She should just stick to acting and leave all the singing up to her hubby, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Coldplay[/lastfm] frontman [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Chris Martin[/lastfm]!
9. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lindsay Lohan[/lastfm] — “Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)”
It’s not like Lindsay’s the worst singer we’ve ever heard, but her material isn’t, how shall we say, very substantive.
This dramatic music video, starring her younger sister Ali, just makes us feel a tad awkward.
Plus, isn’t Lindsay the one who complains that her father, Michael Lohan, is airing their dirty little secrets out in the open?
Like father, like daughter…Vodpod videos no longer available.
10. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Eddie Murphy[/lastfm] — “Party All The Time”
We remember the funnyman for his hilarious roles in “The Nutty Professor,” “Coming to America,” and “Shrek,” so color us embarrassed when we found this little gem!
Not even [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rick James[/lastfm] can save this one…and don’t even get me started on Murphy’s duet with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Jackson[/lastfm]!Vodpod videos no longer available.
11. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Spencer Pratt[/lastfm] — “Ain’t No Thang But A Chicken Wing”
Just because he’s been laying low lately doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about the paparazzi-craving villain of The Hills!
In a “blink and you may have missed it” moment, Pratt’s rap single about chicken wings (no, we’re not kidding) leaked onto the internet early this year.
KFC liked the jam so much that the fast food giant’s president allegedly told the “ambitious” 27-year-old:
“We’re willing to help you tune up the track and even turn it into a tasty music video, featuring the Colonel himself. That is, if you’re not chicken.”
12. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Heidi Montag[/lastfm] — “Higher”
This music video makes feel a little embarrassed for the slightly less annoying other half of Speidi.
The cheesy synthesizer, amateur cinematography, and awkward rolling around on the beach make us feel like we’re watching some private home video!
Plus, it’s hard to recognize The Hills cast member without her new face!Vodpod videos no longer available.
13. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kobe Bryant[/lastfm] — “K.O.B.E.”
Kobe is the second basketballer to make our list.
I completely forgot about the LA Lakers star’s rap career until I researched a little bit, but it’s definitely worth all the hard work for a few laughs!
He teamed up with supermodel Tyra Banks (once again, we’re NOT kidding) for this appropriately-named track.
14. Tyra Banks — “Shake Ya Body”
It turns out that Kobe’s duet partner also had a “budding” singing career herself!
Despite all the obvious flaws, we highly enjoy the guest appearance by the fabulous Jay Manuel.
15. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Brooke Hogan[/lastfm] — “About Us”
Unlike some of the other one-hit wonders on this list, wrestler Hulk Hogan’s daughter actually tried desperately to make her music career a success and had a hit reality TV show to back it up.
But after suffering through this music video, we can imagine why that didn’t work out so well…Vodpod videos no longer available.
16. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Angelina Pivarnick[/lastfm] – “I’m Hot”
PLEASE, JUST MAKE IT STOP!!
Jersey Shore’s least-favorite cast member, Angelina, decided one day that she had mad rapping skills. Oh, the things you can do with a disposable income!
“I’m Hot” leaked onto the internet a fews months and she was appalled! Appalled means secretly thrilled….right?
I guess we should just be thankful that Snooki has yet to grace the world with her charming singing voice.
17. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]James Franco[/lastfm] — “You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me”
Did you know that actor James Franco was in a singing group? Neither did we…oh, the things we learn by googling random celebrities at work!
He occasionally performs in the duo [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kalup & Franco[/lastfm], but clearly his best work is in this clip he tweeted while practicing for his big Oscars hosting gig.
Just like co-host Anne Hathaway, Franco was supposed to sing a big number to the crowd, but he was saved from embarrassment when [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cher[/lastfm]’s song, “You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me,” from the film Burlesque didn’t get nominated.
But being the good sport that Franco is, he still gave us a little taste of what might’ve been…
18. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Shaquille O’Neal[/lastfm] — “Strait Playin'”
I’m a little afraid to bash the basketball giant since he could crush me with his pinky finger, but really, this list isn’t complete without him.
He channels the style of rap legend [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]LL Cool J[/lastfm] in this music video so clearly made allllll the way back in 1997.
But don’t you worry Shaq, even this cheesy video won’t erase Kazaam from our scarred childhood memories!
19. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Scarlett Johannson[/lastfm] — “Falling Down”
I’m probably going to be attacked by a band of rabid ScarJo fans in the parking lot, but I’m just going to say it:
HOMEGIRL CAN’T SING.
We’re bored to tears by this clunky cover of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tom Waits[/lastfm]’ “Falling Down.”
The newly single actress should stick to the stage and screen, that’s where she shines the most.Vodpod videos no longer available.
20. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Juliette Lewis[/lastfm] — “Hot Kiss”
Finally, rounding off our top 20 is one of our favorite hot messes, actress [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Juliette Lewis[/lastfm]!
We enjoying watching her to see what crazy outfit she’ll show up in next, but her singing? Not so much.
Actually, now that we think about it, she can totally give [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ke$ha[/lastfm] a run for her money in both fashion and vocals!
