After months and months of eager anticipation, NBC’s The Voice finally premiered last night.
We were like proud mommas and papas here at AMP Radio watching our morning show host Carson Daly kick things off!
There were some incredible performances and it was hilarious watching the coaches compete against each other.
So who better to break down last night’s episode than the man in the thick of it all, Carson?
If you weren’t able to catch the show last night, here’s our 5 favorite performances of the evening:
5. Elenowen — “Falling Slowly”
I actually saw this couple perform when I went to a taping of The Voice.
These two are just as adorable in real life and were completely in sync the whole time.
Their voices were definitely stronger singing together than apart, so we’ll see if this impacts their standing in the competition during the later rounds.Vodpod videos no longer available.
4. Xenia — “Breakeven”
She may only be 16 years old, but the shy high school student has one of the most unique-sounding voices we’ve heard in awhile.
This girl has so much potential to grow as an artist and she chose country crooner [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Blake Shelton[/lastfm] to lead her down on the right path.Vodpod videos no longer available.
3. Tje Austin — “Just The Way You Are”
Let’s be honest, we’re a sucker for any [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bruno Mars[/lastfm] tune and this kid definitely put his own spin on the song.
We heard a little [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Mayer[/lastfm] influence in his voice, so we bet this sweet guy will be a hit with the ladies.Vodpod videos no longer available.
2. Jeff Jenkins — “Bless The Broken Road”
Wow! This guy is what The Voice is all about.
When you first take a look at Jeff, he seems pretty shy and unassuming, but he has a voice that will knock your socks off.
During the show, Jeff talked about how his mother recently passed away and this was his first performance in which she wouldn’t be watching in the audience. You could sense his love for her in every single note.
Jeff shocked the audience when he didn’t choose Blake, even though he sang a country song. Instead, he decided to take a risk with the rock/pop singer, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Adam Levine[/lastfm].Vodpod videos no longer available.
1. Javier Colon — “Time After Time”
I realize it might be a bit premature to declare a winner, but seriously, this guy blew me away!
No wonder NBC played his voice in many of the promos for the show. I was worried that I built him up to much in my head, but he totally delivered.
The father of two performed a stripped-down version of the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cyndi Lauper[/lastfm] hit, “Time After Time,” and all 4 judges wanted a piece of this future star.
Javier went with Adam, so it looks like the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Maroon 5[/lastfm] frontman is building up a strong team!Vodpod videos no longer available.
