Having previously named [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Whitney Houston[/lastfm] as one of her ’80s vocal influences (are you sure you don’t mean [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Madonna[/lastfm], Gaga?), Lady Gaga has finally proven that her love for Houston isn’t just a mere musical confusion in her bonus track “Fashion Of His Love” from Born This Way.
The song sounds like something the Houston camp would have churned out in the mid ’80s that would have been instantly remade by the young stars on Kids Incorporated!.
Awww, remember young Fergie? Adorbs.
I think “Fashion Of His Love” sounds like Whitney Houston’s 1987 hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” or[lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Deniece Williams[/lastfm]‘ “Let’s Hear It For The Boy.”
So far, Born This Way has sounded more like Bruce Springsteen making out with Madonna, but this explains why Gaga expressed her love for Whitney Houston at the Grammys:
I wanted to thank Whitney because when I wrote Born this Way…I imagined she was singing it — because I wasn’t secure enough in myself to imagine I was a superstar. So, Whitney, I imagined you were singing Born This Way when I wrote it.
I'm going sleepies now. Brooklyn Moon shining above. Have rehearsal 2moro for Saturday Night Live. May even have a dreamy co-star. Guesses?—
