We’re rolling into week 3 of the battle rounds on The Voice, so we’re really starting to see how each coach’s team is shaping up.
Most of yesterday’s matchups were intense, but then there was one that just seemed out of place.
Here’s what Carson had to say about last night’s episode:
If you missed the battles yesterday, fear not! We’re recapping them below!
Raquel Castro vs. Julia Eason — “Only Girl”
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm] wasn’t kidding around when she chose all powerhouse voices during the blind auditions.
These divas-in-training blew the roof off of this [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm] hit, making it a tough final decision.
In the end, it came down to who had that little extra sparkle on stage…Vodpod videos no longer available.
Dia Frampton vs. Serabee — “Can’t Hurry Love”
This particular battle didn’t seem to have the same charm as the rest, in fact, I felt a little awkward watching.
You couldn’t pick two more different singers: Dia, sweet and demure and Serabee, brash and self-assured.
From our standpoint, Serabee just seemed to be trying too hard.
While Dia might not be the obvious choice to win the whole shebang, we like that she kept true to her understated style.
Then again, it’s not our decision! I wonder who [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Blake Shelton[/lastfm] chose…Vodpod videos no longer available.
Devon Barley vs. Rebecca Loebe — “Creep”
I think most of us here at AMP thought veteran singer Rebecca would slide right on through to the live shows.
Well, color us embarrassed!
Believe it or not, but Team [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Adam Levine[/lastfm] turned out to be one of the most competitive duets of the evening.
We were a little taken aback when we found out Devon had never heard of the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Radiohead[/lastfm] classic (are we really THAT old??), but luckily for him, he was a fast learner.
There was something about the quality of Devon’s voice that connected emotionally with this song, but was it enough for him to reign victorious?Vodpod videos no longer available.
Kelsey Rey vs. Tori & Taylor Thompson — “Unwritten”
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cee Lo Green[/lastfm] saved the best for last, with the self-described “pretty girl” pitted against the adorable sisters.
They all had so much in common: a youthful vibe, strong voices, and plenty of spunk.
Kelsey reeked of confidence. She owned that audience, but Tori and Taylor had an undeniable chemistry together.
Could Thompson sisters use their harmonies to their advantage or did it all fall apart on stage?Vodpod videos no longer available.
- Don’t miss the conclusion of the battle rounds next Tuesday at 10/9c on NBC!
