[Music Video Premiere] Far East Movement Straddle A Hog In ‘So What’
It’s official: We have a pop trend. Not shocking in this world of near-identical everything; things work for a reason. The current pop phenomena is that of the “motorcycle icon.”
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] is riding one with some holy peeps in “Judas”; [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm] is gyrating on one made of ice in “Super Bass”; and the[lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Far East Movement[/lastfm] are randomly straddling one with some chick in their new video for “So What.”
Those aren’t the only similarities the video has to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.” First of all, there is the “bass” theme. Second, there are the speaker shots, the money shots, and that crazy pink goo that looks both delicious and medicinal at the same time.
One thing Nicki Minaj didn’t have: a half-naked chick waving a Cherry Tree Records flag. We can’t decide whether that’s tacky or just great marketing.
In the end, we don’t care who copied whom. We are keeping it simple; all we want is bass.
