When Katy Perry composed “Firework,” her message was going out to anyone who felt insecure or out of place i.e. everyone. Whenever we felt down on ourselves, our dads gave us a pep talk, telling us that we were special and one day we will understand just how great we are:
You don’t have to feel like a waste of space/You’re original, cannot be replaced/If you only knew what the future holds/After a hurricane comes a rainbow/Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed/So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road/Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow/And when it’s time, you’ll know

I want my unborn son/to be like my daddy/I want my husband to be like my daddy/There is no one else like my daddy/And I thank you (thank you) for lovin me
Taylor Swift has written a lot of heartwearming songs about her family and father, but “The Best Day” is our favorite, especially with the cute original recordings in the music video of when Swift was a tot.
The song isn’t just about her father, but she tells her dad how she learned from his strength:
I have an excellent father/His strength is making me stronger
