Carson Daly: Food Truck Friday With Tapa Boy Truck!

School may be out for summer, but we’re still learning new things every day at AMP Radio.

For example, when I heard that Tapa Boy was coming in for Food Truck Friday, I immediately assumed we’d be dining on Spanish appetizers, but I was WAY off base.

Turns out, we’re having a Filipino feast and Tapa Boy is here to teach me what they’re all about!

There are a few other Filipino trucks rolling around Los Angeles, but Tapa Boy is the only one that serves breakfast all day long!

Truck buddies Lawrence and Drew told Carson all about why they wanted to bring Filipino food to the masses:

The name Tapa Boy actually derives from the Filipino breakfast staple “tapa,” a richly marinated and thinly sliced beef, usually served along with garlic rice, an egg and a side of papaya relish.

Lawrence and Drew, along with a group of friends, launched the truck back in September of last year.

Everyone working on the truck has either lived in or been to the Philippines and the recipes they use on the truck come straight from their relatives.

Clearly, there’s demand for Tapa Boy, considering the fact that Filipino Americans are the 2nd largest Asian demographic living in the U.S.

And for those of us who don’t hail from the South Pacific, Tapa Boy aims to give us an introduction to the culture’s delicious cuisine.

Our favorite part of Food Truck Friday is that we get to share the wealth with you all!
