Every awards show has some awkward moment that everyone will be talking about the next day, and last night’s BET Awards delivered on all accounts.
For the Viewer’s Choice category, fan Tiffany Green was chosen to present the big prize.
And while she looked fabulous, her big moment on stage was anything but!
Due to some sort of technological mix-up, she announced the wrong winner, causing a totally uneasy few minutes for the audience.
Tiffany was using the Sprint Evo tablet to display the winner’s name, but things went haywire when the words on the teleprompter differed from those on her computer screen.
She first announced [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Chris Brown[/lastfm] the winner, but tried to correct herself after looking at the teleprompter and seeing [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Rihanna[/lastfm]‘s and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Drake[/lastfm]‘s names.
Seriously, these two stars couldn’t avoid controversy if they hid under a rock!
Even [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Drake[/lastfm] couldn’t help himself. When he accepted the award on [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Rihanna[/lastfm]‘s behalf, he commented, “Well this is awkward.”
Take a look at the cringe-worthy moment below:
To make matters worse, it turns out [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Chris Brown[/lastfm] was the actual winner the whole time!
That BET Awards Viewer's Choice mix-up was due to human error. And I was the human that made that error. I apologize to ALL affected.—
