Here at AMP Radio, we love it when artists step outside their comfort zone and perform covers of famous songs.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beyonce[/lastfm] rocked [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kings of Leon[/lastfm]’s “Sex On Fire,” [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm] made us giggle with her rendition of “Friday,” and now [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm] is stepping up to the plate.

During a special benefit stop on her LOUD tour, RiRi treated us to a spunky performance of the country classic, “Sweet Home Alabama!”

Earlier this year, a series of devastating tornadoes swept through Alabama

Rihanna wanted to lend a helping hand to those impacted by the disaster, so she decided to designate all the proceeds from her concert in Birmingham to local relief efforts.

She explained on her website:

Hearing about the hundreds of lives that have been lost and the communities that have been so devastated by this disaster … I wanted to figure out a way to help. I’m hoping that bringing the LOUD tour through Alabama can provide a moment of relief and raise a lot of money for the charities we are working with.

This isn’t the first time [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm] has gotten in touch with her Southern roots.

You may remember that she took the stage at the CMA’s this year to sing her single, “California King Bed.”

Personally, we think she fits in pretty well with the genre.
