By now we all know that Houston-born [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beyoncé[/lastfm] is a firm believer that girls run the world, but after her inspiring message to the astronauts floating in orbit in NASA’s Atlantis, we can add space to those femme-ruling beliefs.

After a teaser snippet of “Run The World (Girls),” Beyoncé greeted Atlantis, but gave a special message to the lone woman onboard–Sandra Magnus.

Beyoncé said to Magnus,”This song is especially for my girl Sandy and all the women who’ve taken us to space with them, and the girls who are our future explorers.”

In our world of jaded disbelievers, many might just chalk this up to being a publicity stunt by Miss Bey. But we’ve seen her inclination to help fellow (wo)mankind and we are just as inspired by Beyoncé’s ambition to make women succeed as we are with Sandra Magnus’ bravery.

  • What do you think about Beyonce’s message to Sandra about inspiring the girls in the world who “are our future explorers?” Let us know in the comments!
