Hollywood is heating up tonight! According to CBS Los Angeles, after the world premiere of the film Electric Daisy Carnival Experience (about the music festival of the same name) at the Grauman’s Chinese, movie attendees worked their way to a pre-planned after party.
Then the night took a dark turn.
DJ Kaskade was booked to spin at at the after party/block party. Little did he realize, when he Tweeted an open invitation to his 90K+ followers that a huge chunk of his fanbase would show up to get down with their favorite DJ.
At the beginning of the night Kaskade was an ambitious party host.
Just an hour later, he was sending his fans away for their own protection.
As more and more superfans began to roll in, the crowd overwhelmed the venue. CBS Los Angeles reports that throngs of EDC fans threw bottles, set fires and vandalized police cars. According to the Los Angeles Times, at one point, the crowd was so out of control police set up a mobile jail to lockdown all the rioters.
It was a tech savvy crowd, and videos of the night immediately were posted on YouTube and Twitvid.
Police closed down Hollywood Boulevard several blocks around the “party” as well as the Metro stop nearby.
