[Poll+ New Music] Beyonce’s Original Version Of ‘Best Thing I Never Had,’ Which One Is Better?
Baby girl [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beyoncé[/lastfm] has a thing for her ballads and we’re not hating on that: We can get pretty sentimental sometimes which is why we love “Best Thing I Never Had.”
But according to the songwriter who wrote “Best Thing I Never Had,” the original version was more of an uptempo dance tune with less passion and more…pumping bass.

Songwriter Patrick “j.Que” Smith said that he liked his version of the song better because it was less of a “ballad.” All the drama and emotion is replaced with a similar drum-line snare as we hear on “Run The World (Girls).”
That’s fun, that’s fine, but that’s just not (Sasha) Fierce. The Beyoncé we know wouldn’t have a dance-off with a questionable ex-lover. She’d teach him a lesson he’ll never forget.
