But according to the songwriter who wrote “Best Thing I Never Had,” the original version was more of an uptempo dance tune with less passion and more…pumping bass.

Songwriter Patrick “j.Que” Smith said that he liked his version of the song better because it was less of a “ballad.” All the drama and emotion is replaced with a similar drum-line snare as we hear on “Run The World (Girls).”
That’s fun, that’s fine, but that’s just not (Sasha) Fierce. The Beyoncé we know wouldn’t have a dance-off with a questionable ex-lover. She’d teach him a lesson he’ll never forget.
