Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that it has been the year of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm].

Everywhere you go, her songs are playing on the radio, she made her big screen debut in The Smurfs this past weekend and beauty store shelves are filled to the brim with her perfume and nail polish lines.

Now she’s making waves in the music world for the overwhelming success of her latest album, Teenage Dream!

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm]’s Teenage Dream became the first album in nearly 19 years to have 5 singles hit the top spot on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 Chart.

Her latest single, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” pushed her over the edge to claim her crown as the reigning princess of pop!

She previously topped the charts with “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” and “E.T.”

Not far behind, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Justin Timberlake[/lastfm]’s FutureSex/LoveSounds and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm]’s The Fame each had a respectable 4 #1’s.

“Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” also makes history for the most weekly plays in the chart’s history at 12,468 spins.

But that’s just par for the course because Perry was already the previous record holder with her last single, “E.T.”

And if that all weren’t enough, Katy also ties [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] for the most consecutive #1 songs with 6 in a row!

So what’s next? If she reaches #1 on the Hot 100 chart, she will be the second artist in 53 years to score a fifth #1 from the same album.

Who was the only other person to accomplish this? The legendary [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Jackson[/lastfm]!
